Middle Ear Infection – Symptoms, causes and treatment (Otitis Media)
Middle Ear infections are caused by bacteria or viruses that
affect the middle ear, causing pain and discomfort. They are most common in
children but can affect people of all ages. Symptoms include earache, fever,
hearing loss, feeling of fullness in the ear, giddiness, tinnitus, giddiness
etc. Treatment may include antibiotics, pain relief medication, antihistamines,
ear drops and in severe cases, surgery.

OTITIS MEDIA CAUSES
Ear infections are usually caused by bacteria or viruses
that infect the middle ear. The middle ear is a small space behind the eardrum
that contains the tiny bones responsible for transmitting sound. When bacteria
or viruses enter the middle ear through the Eustachian tube, which connects the
middle ear to the back of the throat, they can cause inflammation and
infection. Some common causes of ear infections include respiratory infections
such as colds and flu, allergies, sinus infections, changes in air pressure,
exposure to cigarette smoke, and water entering the ear canal. In some cases,
anatomical abnormalities such as a cleft palate or Down syndrome can increase
the risk of ear infections.

intervention may be necessary to drain fluid from the middle ear or repair
damage to the ear.
